FAQs

How frequently will we meet?

Therapy is most powerful when it is conducted weekly. This is verified by countless studies and my professional experience as a therapist. In light of this, I ask all of my individual therapy clients to commit to regular weekly sessions. This will allow us to maintain the trust, consistency, and momentum needed for effective therapy and real change to take place.

When you are ready to stop therapy, we may taper down the frequency of our sessions for a limited period of time in preparation. For couples who have built a solid baseline of communication and trust, we may also taper down the frequency of our sessions as you are better able to problem solve on your own as a couple.

How long will I be in therapy?

Depending on your needs and goals, we can determine together what would be most helpful and beneficial to you. Many find that long-term, regular support from a therapist helps them maintain and strengthen their mental health, much like regular exercise helps build and maintain physical health. Others come to therapy with specific goals or objectives in mind, and once these are reached to their satisfaction, they are ready to stop therapy. Remaining in or stopping therapy is always your choice.

How long is each session?

A standard session is 50 minutes long. Appointments are typically at the same day and time each week.

How much does therapy cost?

My current fees are $200 per 50 minute individual session and $230-$250 per 50 minute couples or family session.

Do you accept insurance?

I am considered an "out of network" provider for insurance purposes, however many insurance plans provide partial reimbursement for the cost of seeing an out of network therapist. If you choose to seek reimbursement through your insurance, I can provide you with documentation of your visits (also known as a "superbill") to submit with your claim. Every insurance plan has its own procedures for reimbursement, so it is generally a good idea to check in with them directly if you are planning on submitting a reimbursement claim. Some questions you may wish to ask are:

  • Does my plan offer out of network mental health benefits?

  • What is your reimbursement rate for out of network mental health services?

  • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?

What times do you have available?

My appointment times are generally Monday through Friday, morning through mid-afternoon. Whether (and when) I have availability for new clients is subject to ongoing change depending on my current caseload. If you send me an email with your availability, I can generally tell you whether I currently have spots open during those times.
